Hidden Seed Trap Hack

Hidden Seed Trap Hack

For Smoother Fruit Purées Every Time

Working with seedy fruits like raspberries, blackberries, or figs? Even the best food mills can let a few tiny seeds sneak through. Here’s a simple trick to keep your purées extra smooth:

Line the underside of your food mill disc with a round coffee filter before processing.

This unexpected hack creates a gentle barrier that traps loose seeds without disrupting the milling process giving you a silkier final product for jams, jellies, sauces, and baby food.

How to Use the Hidden Seed Trap:

  1. Choose the Right Filter: Use a flat-bottomed, unbleached round coffee filter.

  2. Trim if Needed: Cut the filter to fit the size of your disc without overlapping the locking mechanism.

  3. Assemble & Mill: Place the trimmed filter between the disc and the bowl of your Hungry Artisan Food Mill. Assemble the mill as usual and process your fruit.

The filter allows juice and purée to pass through while catching stubborn seeds that usually escape.

Best Fruits to Use This With:
